Musco Family Olive Company - 7 - 12 December 2006
-
E-i
.
Available groundwater quality for wells located within two miles of the site was presented in the
Report of Waste Discharge. The depth of the wells-and screened intervals are variable, and
the wells were sampled at various times between 1951 and 1979. The water quality data
provides some information on the surrounding groundwater quality. The data is summarized
in Table 7.
Table 7
Surrounding Water Well Analytical Data
Well ID Well Depth (ft) Year Sampled TDS (mg/Li Sodium (mg/L) Chloride (mg1L)
02SO4E26D01 M NA 1979 1,400 320 440
Cordes - . .. 290 1963 NA NA 317
02SO4E27J02M 300 1966-1969 NA 394a 352a
02SO4E28A1 294 1951 NA 390 250
0204E28A1-D 290 1958-1967 1,826 384a 2438
0204E28H1 NA 1957-1959 2,030 432a 295a
024E28P1 NA 1959 NA NA 120
02SO4E331301 NA 1979 1,360 300 240
02SO4E33 NA 1955 2,620 682 560
02SO4E33J1-D NA 1957-1967 2,470 5988 4858
02SO4E34H1 273 1959-1967 NA 558 256a
02SO4E35D1 NA 1951 NA 360 290
02SO4E35H1 NA 1967-1979 NA 402a 333a
Average 1,915° 431 321
NA denotes Not Available a Denotes value shown is an average of available data. b Denotes value
calculated from all data available in RWD (not from average values calculated from each well as
shown in this table).
Monitoring wells associated with the Musco facility consist of 13 shallow groundwater
monitoring wells and six deep groundwater monitoring wells as presented in Table 7. A well
location map is presented in Appendix B. Groundwater flow in the shallow zone beneath the
site has not been completely defined. Based on a review of the June 2006 potentiometric
map for the shallow zone, groundwater in the uplands area flows toward the north-northeast at
a gradient of 0.04 ft/ft. Groundwater in the uplands area appears to be flowing towards the
property north of the Reservoir and likely being controlled or influenced by the neighboring
drainage. Shallow groundwater flow in the mid-slope area is northeast, following topography
through the lowland area at a gradient of 0.04 ft/ft.
Based on a review of the June 2006 Potentiometric map for the deep zone, groundwater
beneath the mid-slope and lowland area flows toward the northwest at a gradient of 0.02 ft/ft.
This groundwater flow direction coincides with the shallow zone of the uplands area.
Groundwater in the deep zone also appears to flow toward the property north of the Reservoir
and likely being controlled or influenced by the neighboring drainage or Artesian Well noted on
the Topographic Map.
Several of the groundwater monitoring wells at the Musco site have gone dry and have not
been viable sampling points for many quarters.
