The document describes construction of a
12 acre wastewater storage pond and a 6 acre concrete pad for olive storage tanks.. The project is located
south of Tracy, San Joaquin County. The wastewater storage pond is part of the wastewater storage and
treatment improvements which are requiredxat the site; the concrete pad for olive storage tanks is part of
a plant capacity expansion.
G
Musco Olive Products has.presented a preliminary wastewater storage and treatment system design to
f the Regional Water Quality Control Board for storage and land application of olive processing
wastewater. The improvements are required for the existing wastewater flow rate. Musco seeks to
{ increase the flow rate of wastewater application over the existing Waste Discharge Requirements
(WDRs)permit limits: As part of the WDRs update process, Musco will be required to reduce the
concentration of total dissolved solids in wastewater being applied to the land application area. In
addition, Musco will be required to prevent all applied wastewater from escaping the land application
areas. Pending collection of additional data, the final size of the wastewater storage pond has not been
finalized. The 12-acre pond is considered an interim solution.
g n
De endion the Standard IndustrialClassification
p
s SIC code of the final project, compliance with the
(SIC) p 3 p
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit No. CAS000001 for
Discharges of Storm Water Associated With Industrial Activities may be required. In order to obtain coverage by the General
Permit, the proponent must submit a Notice of Intent to comply with the permit (NOI) to the State Water
Resources Control Board and a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) must be prepared.
If construction associated with the project will disturb more than five acres or part of a larger common
plan of development that encompasses five or more acres, the property owner needs to obtain permit
coverage under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) General Permit No.
CAS000002 for Discharges of Storm Water Associated With Construction Activity. Before construction
begins, the proponent must submit an NOI to comply with the permit to the State Water Resources
Control Board and a SWPPP must be prepared.
