ROSE ' S Engineering - Geology & Survey Inc.
9070 Elk Grove Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95624 (916) 686-5445
November 3 , 1992
Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board
3443 Routier Road
Sacramento, CA 95827-3098
ATTN: Joe Henao
RE: Application for facility permit/waste discharge, Barnyard
Corporation, Thornton, California.
In August, 1989, an application for waste discharge was processed
and approved. However, before the project could be consummated,
the permit expired. We are again applying for a permit.
Presently the Barnyard project has a gas station service repair,
minimart, office and a barn with approximately seven employees.
The barn serves as a flea market during weekends with generally
over 100 people attending. The sewer consists of a septic tank and
leach line.
The Barnyard R.V. Park and business complex will have the
following:
1. Existing gas station and minimart plus repair and barn at
10 gallons per car per day (400 cars/day) 7 employees @ 15 gallons
each 4 , 105 gallons
2. Proposed 60 unit motel @ 100 gal/room 6, 000 gallons
3 . 115 seat restaurant @ 100 gallons per seat 11, 500 gallons
4. 160 space R.V. park @100 gallons per space 16, 000 gallons
5. '5 acres of shop commercial @1500 gal/ac 7, 500 gallons
Estimated hydraulic flow for the property 45, 105 gallons
Plant design will be based on 50, 000 gallons/day.
Development in this area will require removing the existing septic
tank and re-routing the waste water from the gas station and
minimart to the proposed plant. In the proposed new development
the new diseharge will be collected and gravity flowed to a 20, 000
gallon buffer tank. From the buffer tank the waste water will be
lifted into the aeration chamber where the digestion begins.
Although a specific soils test* has not been completed, a major
problem in this area is the impeded groundwater causing saturation
close to the surface. The present leach field has not failed,
however, it does have limited use. The quantity of waste water
generated by this proposal and the prohibition of infiltration -of
this soil, . would not lend itself to a large leach field for
disposal.
