r.
Ameresco San Joaquin LLC GHG Analysis
April 12, 2011
Using California Air Resources Board Mandatory GHG Emission program, the Green
House Gas emissions in CO2e from the four point sources at the Foothill Landfill are:
1. Ameresco Engines, 2 Jenbacher 616 18 bar engines:
2 Engines = 39.6 MMBtu/hr * 116.376 = 4608 lbs./hr. of CO2e biogenic
emissions
2. - Ameresco VOC Flare:
VOC Flare = 6.6 MMBtu/hr * 116.376 = 768 lbs./hr. of CO2e biogenic emissions
3. County Candlestick Flare:
PSVSWA Flare = 60.7 MMBtu/hr.*116.376 = 7064 lb./hr. of CO2e biogenic
emissions
Flare data from Foothill Landfill Air Permit
As is shown above, when Ameresco's LFGTE facility begins operating there will be a
decrease of CO2e emissions from the site as the County flare is permitted for more gas
flow than the LFGTE Facility. In addition, when the electrical power generated by the
LFGTE facility is considered to offset fossil fueled power generation, which would
otherwise generate 13,888 metric tons/year CO2e, the Ameresco plant results in an
overall decrease of CO2e equivalent GHG emissions(1).
(1) Displaced Fossil Fuel Utility Emissions factor from CAMX eGrid 2005.
