KLEINFELDER
SOIL SUITABILITY AND NITRATE LOADING STUDY
SIKH TEMPLE OF LODI AND STOCKTON
LODI, CALIFORNIA
1. GENERAL
Kleinfelder is pleased to present the results of our soil suitability and nitrate loading
study for the proposed Sikh Temple of Lodi and Stockton to be located in Lodi,
California. The Assessor's Parcel Number of the property is 058-110-40. An aerial
photograph showing the approximate site boundaries is presented on Plate 1. The
purpose of our study was to determine the suitability of the property for septic tank
usage. The study was performed in general accordance to the requirements of
Section 9-10100© of San Joaquin County Ordinance. The following sections include
background information regarding the project site and the proposed development, past
and present uses of the site, existing septic tank performance and permitting, and the
groundwater conditions in the project area. In addition, discussions regarding our
investigative procedures and the site conditions encountered during our field
exploration are included. Finally, the results of our percolation tests, nitrate loading
calculations, and subsequent conclusions are presented.
2. SITE DESCRIPTION / PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
At the time of our study, the subject 8.6-acre parcel consisted mostly of a barren field
with scattered weeds and trees. A residence was located near the northwest corner of
the property. A fence bordered the west side of the property along West Lane and the
south side along Armstrong road. Three sheds were located on the property, two
near the northwest corner of the site next to the house and one near the southwest
corner adjacent the fence. The property was bound to the north by fallow fields, to the
east by railroad tracks, to the west by West Lane, and to the south by Armstrong
Road. The existing parcel is zoned AG-40 (General Agriculture).
We understand that a Sikh temple with associated paved parking and other
improvements will be constructed on the subject property. An on-site septic/leach field
system will provide sewage disposal. An old domestic well will provide water for the
- temple. A map showing the approximate location of the proposed temple, septic/leach
field, and well is presented on Plate 2.
We understand that the proposed temple will have a maximum seating capacity of 249
people, and the building will be used on two occasions (Saturday and Sunday) each
week. During the middle of a typical week, we understand a maximum of 50 people
will use the facility. The temple will have a kitchen. According to the San Joaquin
County Onsite Wastewater Disposal Standards (page 13 of 25), churches with a
59149.G01/ST05R1062 December 15,2005
Copyright 2005 Kleinfelder,Inc.
