I. INTRODUCTION
This report issues my findings regarding the Nitrate Loading Study, Soil Suitability Study and
Wastewater Disposal Operational and Design Parameters for the proposed Ripon Church of Christ
in Ripon, California. The Church is in the process of constructing a new Worship Center;
consequently, these studies were required by the San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department(EHD) and comply with the San Joaquin County Development Title, specifically
Section 9-1105.2(d). The Site Plan and associated civil engineering information have been
produced by Hawkins &Associates Engineering of Modesto, California.
Within the text of this Report, Bolded Section (§)numbers are referenced at the beginning of an
applicable Paragraph or Paragraphs, or Appendices that correspond with the EHD Requirements
Checklist. Section Numbers referenced as SSS§, are sections applicable for the Soil Suitability
Study Requirements Checklist. Section Numbers referenced as NLS§, are sections applicable
for the Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist. Other portions of text may also apply to
other sections of the Checklists.
NLS§2.3. Since the property remains in the County, the City of Ripon sewer will not serve the
future development. Therefore, the Church will operate with an on-site decentralized wastewater
management system, commonly referred to as a septic system. It is my understanding that a new
domestic well is to be drilled to serve the Church.
SSS§ 12. The Church is located near the NWC of Jack Tone and West Ripon Roads. Currently,
the Church property is vacant except for a residential structure that is to be the Pastor's residence, a
sea container, and construction materials for the new Church. The total Parcel area for the Church
site is 3.09 acres.
The following paragraphs summarize the purpose and findings of these Studies to fulfill the
requirements of the EHD. Wastewater system operational and design parameters are also
presented within this document to facilitate the transfer of information to EHD:
• An analysis was completed of the indigenous soils in the proposed effluent disposal area to
determine the acceptance of the anticipated wastewater flows, along with an assessment of the
characteristics of the soil with respect to nitrate impact. Discussions are presented on the
operational parameters to achieve the two goals of proper wastewater management and nitrate
loading mitigation. These two goals were accomplished by the referenced testing, physical/
chemical analyses, and operational parameters incorporated into the design of the wastewater
disposal system.
• It has been determined that the new primary filter bed system disposal area can be installed in the
SEC of the property,as situated by Hawkins Engineering. The 100%reserve/replacement/
addition area is adjacent to the west of the primary field.
• Although wastewater flow volumes emanating from the Church project are unknown, they have
been formulated for this report using available and acceptable parameters.
I
