An approximate average is 16 <br /> years. The data indicates a service life on the low side. However in this area of clay soils and <br /> unknown maintenance by the home owners it is considered acceptable to install standard septic <br /> systems properly sized according to EHD, SJC current standards. <br /> GROUNDWATER INFORMATION SECTION <br /> The water test by Far West Labs show Nitrate as 7.2 mg/L and DBCP as<0.01 ug/L. The sampleāœ“ <br /> meets current California drinking water standards. No third party is involved in the testing <br /> process. The Log is furnished by the Lab and included with the report.No representative of <br /> Earnest F. Smith was present for the sampling. <br /> The map"Lines of equal depth to Water, "1999" shows approximately 65'to static water. <br /> SOIL PROFILE INFORMATION SECTION <br /> No pit was dug. The approximate location of the test hole is shown on the map. <br /> The soil is silt-clay, interspersed with thin layers of sand. <br /> PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION <br /> The field form dated Oct. 20, 2009 contains the test data and is included in this report. The test <br /> holes (8" in Dia.)were sleeved with PVC pipe. Two inches of small gravel were placed in the <br /> bottom of the holes. Additional gravel was placed around the PVC pipe as shown on the included <br /> schematic detail. The shallow holes were 42" deep. The 24 hour pre-soak period began on <br /> Oct.19, at 1000 hours. The 4 hour test portion began at 1000 hours on Oct.20. The tests <br /> conformed to SJC Policy EHD 02-02. <br /> Summary of tests: The shallow holes failed. The deep hole (8.45'RP)passed. Mr. Mike Escotto, <br /> R.E.H.S., EHD of SJC was present for the critical readings. Pits are required in addition to leach <br /> ;tines. <br /> 2. <br />
