DON ' TS
Don't accidentally dig up an underground utility with your backhoe.
Before you dig, telephone the One Call number=- and the
utilities which have underground facilities in the area will come to
surface mark their lines.
Don't connect rain gutters or storm drains to your pressure sewer, or
allow surface water to drain into it. This additional water will
increase pumping costs, deplete the available capacity of the
collection system and add needlessly to the daily volume of water
the treatment facility has to process.
Don't use excessive quantities of water. Repair leaky toilets, faucets
or plumbing fixtures. Leaky toilets can waste up to 2000 gallons of
water in one day. Take shorter showers, take baths with partially-
filled tub. Use water saving devices or methods like reducing the
flow or volume of your toilet.
o As Don't flush undesirable substances into the new sewer. Flushing
flammable and toxic products is dangerous, while other materials
such as paper towels, rags, newspaper, cigarettes, coffee grounds,
egg shells, sanitary napkins, large amounts of hair and cooking
grease are a maintenance nuisance and will also increase the
frequency of pumping septage from the tank.
Don't dump recreational vehicle (RV) waste into your septic tank
because it will increase the amount of solids entering the septic tank
and the frequency of required septage pumping. RV waste dumped
directly into the screened vault will clog the pump and plug the
screen. Some RV waste may contain chemicals that are toxic or that
may adversely effect the biological activity in your tank.
Do clean the lint filter on the washing machine at least as often as
the manufacturer recommends, preferably before every load. This
usually takes less than a minute.
