The San Joaquin River is the nearest water body to the site
and is located approximately 2'/, miles west of the property. Due to the distance to the
San Joaquin River and the general gradient of groundwater, we anticipate that the
impact to surface water will be low.
' Due to the fast percolation characteristics of the subgrade soil, the depth to
groundwater, and the already high nitrate-nitrogen (N) concentration, it is our
professional opinion that a conventional septic tankileach trench sewage disposal
system designed per SJCEHD criteria will not adequately serve the proposed temple
and that there is a need for a modified standard septic system to be installed at the
' site. The modified septic system should attempt to slow the percolation rate of the
effluent from the septic tankfleach field system into the soil. in our professional
opinion, the percolation rate of the effluent can be slowed by using at I-east 5 inches of
' peat/compost in the filter beds of the septic tank/leach field system. Peaticompost has
slow percolation characteristics that will help prevent effluent from quickly percolating
out of the septic system and into the soil and groundwater. Additionally peat/compost
tends to also have a high organic content that will help denitrify the effluent.
11. LIMITATIONS
Kleinfeider has prepared this report in accordance with the generally accepted
standards of care that exist in San Joaquin County at the time of writing. It should be
' recognized that definition and evaluation of geologic and chemical subsurface
conditions are difficult. Judgments leading to conclusions and recommendations are
generally made with an incomplete knowledge of the subsurface and/or historic
' conditions applicable to the site. The conclusions of this report are based on the
information provided regarding the existing and proposed development and on-site
conditions as well as our field observations, percolation test results, and experience in
' the project area. It was assumed that the percolation test results are representative of
the subsurface conditions in the general area.
