L
LNovember 3,2004
NOA Project Number: E040118A
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
6.1 Percolation Test Locations
L A site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 2 of this report (4-0
LA percolation test was not required for the designated remainder parcel.
6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
LOne shallow percolation test was conducted on parcels 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Site.
6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
LThe soil borings were excavated on the Site with a 4-inch diameter hand powered auger on October
L11,2004.
A 1.5-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring. Approximately 2 inches of"pea gravel" were placed in the
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel. Several inches 3
of"pea gravel' were backfilled in the annular space. h
(o) (Msfi
` Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred on October 11, 12 and 28,2004. The depth of
water used to pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the boring.
6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
JC220et
04.
the24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact on October 12, 13 and
On October 12,2004,percolation test location IS was found to be dry. On October 13,
4,Percolation test locations 3S and 4S were found to be dry. On October 13, 2004,percolation
test location 2S was found with 3 inches of water in the bottom. Please see Plate 2 for percolation
test locations.
6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
L Percolation tests were conducted for the borings on October 12, 13 and 29,2004 in accordance with
the requirements of the EHD. A percolation test with a duration of one hour was performed for
L holes 1S and 4S, a percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for 2S and 3S. The
one hour test or the final half-hour of each four-hour percolation test was observed by Mr. Michael
Escotto,Registered Environmental Health Specialist, EHD, Mrs. Linda Turkatte,Registered
L Environmental Health Specialist,EHD,Mrs.Angelica Sandoval Registered Environmental Health
Specialist, EHD,or Mr. Muni Naidu Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist, EHD.
L
L 8 -,44
1
to
