Cambridge ACREAGE: < 1 <br /> ACCOMPANIED BY: N/A <br /> Remarks: <br /> On October 7, 1998, California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) staff conducted a <br /> site inspection of this facility. Staff determined that this site contained more than 1, 800 <br /> wase tires stored onsite. <br /> During the inspection, the facility was found to be in violation of several waste tire <br /> standards . This facility did not have adequate fire fighting suppression equipment <br /> (c~.em cal extinguisher, water extinguisher, pike pole, pointed/flat shovels) , adequate water <br /> supp'_y, or vector control measures in place. Further, the waste tires were stored in close <br /> proximity to the building structure. Weeds were allowed to grow in and around the waste <br /> tires and there were no measures in place for the control of pyrolytic oils which may be <br /> created during a tire fire. <br /> Violations: <br /> 30 PRC 42833 Operator Authorized by Permit <br /> At the time of this inspection, the waste tire site operator did not have a minor Permit <br /> issued by the CIWMB. Pursuant to this section, the CIWMB shall issue a manor Permit nur^want <br /> to the regulations once an application has been submitted and the facility is in compliance <br /> with applicable regulation and law. <br /> 14 CCR 17351 Fire Prevention Measures <br /> A water supply adequate for fire fighting equipment as defined by this section was not <br /> observed during the inspection. Further, the operator did not have adequate fire fighting <br /> suppression equipment on site (chemical extinguisher, water extinguisher, pike pole, <br /> square/pointed shovels) . The operator needs to contact the local fire authority and receive <br /> written verification if fire requirements other than those specified in this section are <br /> acceptable. <br /> Pursuant to this section, the operator must provide the following fire fighting suppression <br /> equ_pment: <br /> (A) Adequate equipment to aid in the control of fires, including: <br /> • one (1) dry chemical fire extinguisher <br /> • one (1) two and one-half gallon water extinguisher <br /> Integrated Waste Management Specialist <br />
