Market Street, Stockton, CA
Dear Ms. Lagorio: 5
This letter report is submitted to present a proposed workplan to conduct a subsurface
investigation at the subject site. Figure 1 shows the location of the site. The investigation is
being conducted to further assess the extent of gasoline constituents detected in soil samples
collected beneath the former underground storage tank (UST).
The general scope of work will consist of the following:
1. Drilling and sampling a single soil boring in the vicinity of the former underground storage
tank (UST) to investigate the vertical extent of residual gasoline constituents in the soil;
2. Collecting a discrete groundwater sample to determine if groundwater has been impacted;
3. Preparing a technical report that summarizes the methods and results of the investigation.
BACKGROUND
The site previously utilized one 10,000-gallon UST for storage of unleaded gasoline. Figure 2
presents a site plan showing the location of the former UST. The UST was removed under permit
from San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) on January 14, 2003. A soil
sample collected beneath the south end of the UST contained low levels of total xylenes, methyl-
tert-butyl-ether (MTBE), and tert-butanol (TBA). Table 1 presents a summary of analytical
results. Groundwater beneath the site is expected at approximately 25-30 feet below ground
surface (bgs).
data/poundzaftuffboy/wp 1199.doc
