FROM : ENVIRONEERING INC FAX NO. : 9258389621 Jul. 12 2007 04:26PM P2
Hazardous Material Release Incident Report
Date and Time of Incident — June 26, 2007 at approximately 11:20 AM,
Reporting Date and Time — June 26, 2007 at 3:50 PM
Report No. 07-3850
Location of Incident — California Tank Lines, Inc., 3105 S. El Dorado
Street, Stockton, CA
Incident Description — Sodium hydroxide (caustic) discharged from. a
storage tank into the secondary containment. It was reported to Robert
Lopez at OES that approximately 100 gals of caustic overflowed from the
storage tank. Subsequent investigation showed the quantity to be
approximately 50 gals., which discharged from a cracked fitting on the tank.
The spilled caustic was contained within the secondary containment.
Action Taken — the contents of the caustic storage tank were transferred to
an empty caustic trailer on site and the caustic in the secondary enclosure
was pumped into a tank for use on site. The caustic storage tank was lifted,
the bottom was neutralized and cleaned, the tank was removed from the
containment area and the cracked fitting was replaced. The containment area
was neutralized and cleaned and will be re -coated in the near future, before
the tank is reinstalled and put back in service.
