20-01. These additional investigations are necessary to planA remediation
efforts and to assess future potential impacts on California Water Service
Well 20-01.
Hargis & Associates, Inc. . will conduct the Phase IV groundwater
eampling personnel have been
assessment. MCTC will notify DOHS
when Hargis
identified. Subsurface investigation will begin by determining the zones
u to CWS
in the aquifer that are contributing groundwater containing
riesch t Of monitor
Well 20-01. This may be accomplished by constructing
wells adjacent to GWS Well 20-01. It is anticipated that the completion
intervals of these nested monitor wells will be 120 ffeetto608 ls, and feet
on
land surface (bl.s) , 180 feet to 220 feet ble. 220
feet to 260 feet to 300 feet ble. Wells will be constructed
, sampled and analYwed
in sequence until the deepest well contains no chromium. Other e sial
methods of well construction and sampling
will be const
as an
alternative to construction of a nest of wells for determining the zone Welf
contribution. Once the zone that is contributing chromium
to 20-01 has bp determined through laboratory analysis of water samples
collected from the nested wells or alternative special wells, additional
M
in the zone identified. These wells
monitoring wells will be completed
will serve to determine the extent of water containing chromium betwflen
CWS
Well 20-01 and the existing monitor wells, and determine whether there has
been any migration of chromium beyond CWS Well 20-01. The approximate
pproimat actual
locations for these recommended wells are shown on Figure
locations will depend on finding suitable locations accessible to the drill
t;-of-way of the County streets
ria in the righ .
E
1 The construction of the proposed monitoring wells will depend on the depth
i
of the screened integrals and the formations encount is anal tablisthet
by the well nest in the area of GWS Well 20 01
construction will be similes' to that of the intermediate wells and deep
F wells constructed during the Phase III groundwater assessment conducted by
Fargis & Assoc iates, Inc. This .constriction was Presented in a previous
wort: plan approves h`1 MHS in ,7anuary 1965 and is illustrated on "igu*,'-=
4-4. The wells Will first be drilled to a depth approximating the top .. of
4-3
