Waste Tire Facilities Page 1 of 1 <br /> California Home Integrated Waste Management Board Search Index Contact Us Help <br /> Waste Tire Management <br /> Tire Management Facility Permitting <br /> Home <br /> Haulers Assembly Bill (AB) 1843 created an environmental regulatory program to <br /> control the storage and disposal of waste tires. AB 1843 requires persons who <br /> Manifest Program store or stockpile more than 500 waste tires at a specific location to acquire a <br /> Facilities/Permitting major or minor waste tire facility (WTF) permit and comply with technical <br /> standards for the safe storage of waste tires. By definition, a major WTF <br /> Enforcement stores, stockpiles, accumulates, or discards 5,000 or more waste tires, and a <br /> Product minor WTF stores, stockpiles, accumulates, or discards up to 5,000 waste tires. <br /> Development The California Facilities, Sites, and Operations Database (SWIS) includes <br /> information on waste tire facilities throughout the state. <br /> Grants & Loans <br /> Events Operators of minor and major WTFs are required to verify that all applicable <br /> Contacts local, State, and federal permits and approvals have been satisfied. Applicants <br /> are to complete the following: <br /> Resources <br /> • Waste Tire Facility Permit Application (CIWMB 500): MS "Wo rd.., 70 KB <br /> Adobe PDF, 24 KB <br /> • Operation Plan (CIWMB 501): MS Word, 108 KB I Adobe PDF, 36 KB <br /> • Environmental Information (CIWMB 502) MS Word, 95 KB I Adobe PDF, <br /> 35 KB <br /> • Emergency Response Plan (CIWMB 503): MS Word, 45 KB I Adobe-PDF, <br /> 18 KB <br /> Additionally, major WTF operators are required to: <br /> • Complete a Closure Plan (CIWMB 504) MS Word, 82 KB I Acrobat PDF, <br /> 30 KB <br /> • Complete a reduction/elimination plan. <br /> • Establish a financial assurance mechanism and obtain operating liability <br /> coverage (see financial assurances for more detail). <br /> Applicants are required to submit the original and two copies of the completed <br /> forms to the Board. Within 30 days of receipt, the Board will either accept or <br /> reject the application. Within 180 days (in most cases) of accepting a <br /> completed application, the Board will issue or deny the issuance of a WTF <br /> permit.
