Resuft of Addbo d Lkn ted sloe MtiesW' -nd
Request For Ske Maws
838 Mokelumne Street..Woodbridge,Callfo
REQUEST FOR SITE CLOSURE
California Fuels and Aegis believe all the substantive issues of concern discussed at the
October 7, 1992, meeting have been addressed by the present investigation. In
particular:
1. The groundwater beneath the site is not at risk of being impacted by those
hydrocarbons that may remain in soils beneath the site due to the real and
fortuitous protection afforded by the "confining" layer as well as the extremely low
leaching potential of the residual hydrocarbons revealed by the chemical analyses
discussed earlier.
2. Analysis of the samples collected from the three soil borings drilled, at the request
of the CVRWQCB, to the south of the former excavations, near the southern
property line, indicated no TPH, as diesel, above the PQL. Thus, hydrocarbons
have not moved laterally beyond the limits previously defined by the former
excavation(s) and neighboring properties are not at risk.
3. The former excavations were successful in removing all hydrocarbon-impacted
soils that were accessible in terms of logistics, practicality, and responsibility,
including ensuring protection of the water-bearing zone.
For the reasons set forth above, California Fuels and Aegis respectfully request closure
of the site.
We appreciate the interest of the CVRWQCB in this matter. Please call us at your earliest
convenience, at (916) 782-2110, if you have any questions or comments. Please let us
know in writing, as soon as possible, regarding approval of the request for site closure.
Sincerely,
AEGIS ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
J, 1—Z
Douglas I.
