This field investigation is based on our
review of the results of previous investigations.
SUMMARY OF PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS
American Environmental Management Corporation (AEMC) has performed several
studies at the site, including quarterly ground-water monitoring for the presence of total
petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), aromatic volatile organics, and polynuclear aromatic
hydrocarbons. The AEMC reports are listed on an attachment to this letter. According
to the AEMC report of December 4, 1986, three ground-water monitoring wells were
installed around the AORS. Laboratory results reported in four quarterly ground-water
monitoring reports and the January 1989 site characterization report indicate that all
constituents tested for were below detection limits, with the exception of toluene in
Monitoring Well BD-3. Toluene concentrations of 1 µg/I were detected during
monitoring for the first quarter.
A fourth monitoring well was installed on January 16, 1989. The groundwater gradient
was calculated to flow northwesterly.
Engineers 10324 Placer Lane Telephone Arizona Colorado Texas
and Sacramento 916/364-0793 Alaska Hawaii
Geoscientists California 95827 Telecopy 916/3645633 California Nevada
