Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> P,E: Workplan for Soil Excavation, 11th Street, 'Tracy, CA <br /> Dear Ms. Turkatte: <br /> This letter will wrrve as a"Workplan for soil excavation to be conducted at the above referenced <br /> site. Petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soils were encountered during mad construction activities <br /> on April 16, 1993. The impacted area was immediately backfilled. Eased upon the fact that <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon contamination was left in place, RESNA Industries,on behalf of the City <br /> of Tracy, proposes the removal of the impacted sail. <br /> The following scope of work will be performed under the supervision of RESNA personnel in <br /> accordance with the Site Safety and Health Plan (Attachment 1). <br /> To prevent residual petroleum hydrocarbon contaminants in the soil from acting as a possible <br /> source of degradation to the groundwater, impacted soil will be excavated. A Photoionisation <br /> Detector (PID) will he used during excavation to assist in evaluating the lateral extent of soil <br /> impaction. Excavated soil will be underlain and covered with plastic sheeting. <br /> Following excavation, confirmation sidewall samples will be collected at 20 foot intervals. At <br /> least one sample will be collected from the floor of the excavation. The exact number and <br /> locations of the samples will be determined in the field under direction of San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Division. <br /> All verification soil samples will be collected and transported in accordance with RESNA's <br /> Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan (Attachment 2). The soil will be collected into <br /> prewashed brass liners. Each liner will be sealed with a Teflon sheet and plastic caps, sealed <br /> in air-tight bags, and preserved on We pending shipment to a State-c=dfied laboratory. <br /> W PM'*.MRM <br />
