�� r� �� . �'k� �� ', � �� .` .5s ui- .x Section 2 _ Background Site ]Description Del Monte Plant 33 is located at 2716 East Miner Avenue, Stockton.California, east of downtown and 112 mile west of Highway 99(Figure 2-1). Del Monte Plant 33 is a fruit canning and packaging plant. The former East Miner tanks were located along the western wall of Building 34 (Fig- ures 2-2 and 2-3). The area surrounding the tanks is used to load products from Build- ing 34 to the delivery trucks. The ground surface is covered by six inches of concrete reinforced with wire-mesh. Site History Gasoline Tank The 500-gallon gasoline tank was operated by Del Monte. This tank was removed in asoiint. contaminated soil. Mr. David Koll of Del 1985, along with 36 cubic yards of g Monte was present during removal of the gasoline tank and reports that the removed so:, was visibly contaminated. No soil samples were collected and analyzed. The electrical piping (former power supply to the gasoline tank pump) along the r outside wall of Building 34 still exists, establishing the location of the former gasoline tank. Diesel ",rank According to a 1983 reap (Figure 2-4), a 500-gallon diesel tank was located approximately 75 feet south of the northwestern corner of Building 34, oriented perpendicular to the western wall of the building. A 2-inch-diameter slurry filled pipe stLb in the Building 34 foundation exists aboui S inches above the ground surface, at approximately the location of the suspected tank. This area was lowered 2 to 3 feet below previous grade several years ago during construction of loading docks. Plant personnel do not recall seeing evidence of an underground tank during excavation and construction.
