Margaret Lagorio •
Page 3
February 23, 1996
Drill cuttings will be placed in a Department of Transportation (DOT) approved 55-gallon
drums. The drums will be stored on site. It will be the responsibility of Del Monte to
appropriately dispose of the soil cuttings upon completion of the work.
Analyses
Table 1 summarizes the analyses for the soil samples will be tested. All samples except the
sample from B-8 will be analyzed for total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons using EPA
method 418.1. In addition, all borings except B-3, B-4, and B-10 will be analyzed for semi-
volatile organic constituents and volatile organic constituents using EPA Methods 8270 and
8240, respectively.
Reporting
A summary of the analytical results and the boring logs will be summarized in a letter report.
The report will contain a summary of the sample collection methods, a summary of the
analytical results from the samples, copies of the chain-of custody documentation, certified
analytical reports, and copies of the soil boring logs. In addition, recommendations for
additional work will be made, if necessary.
Schedule
The work will commence upon notification to proceed from Del Monte. Approximately one
week will be required for pre-fieldwork activities which will include scheduling a drilling
subcontractor, obtaining the necessary permits from San Joaquin County Health Department,
and preparation of a Health and Safety Plan. Following the pre-fieldwork activities, the
field investigation will be conducted within one week. The laboratory analyses may require
up to two weeks. The report will be issued one week after the receipt of the analytical
results. Therefore, this work may be completed within 5 weeks after Del Monte has
approved this proposal.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at(408)436-4936 ext. 249.
Sincerely,
CH2M HILL
Thom Little
Hydrogeologist
c:Unyworkklelmonte\plmt33lsilgan.doc
