0
Work Plan Addendum - June 2001
LODI AIRPORT
23987 North Highway 99, Acampo, California
1.0. INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr. Robert Kupka, Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared the
enclosed work plan addendum to the AGE-prepared Preliminary Site Assessment Work Plan, dated
23 February2000,for the Lodi Airport site located at 23987 North Highway 99,Acampo,California.
The location of the site is illustrated on Figure 1 and a plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2.
This addendum has been prepared as required by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services -
Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) by letters dated 18 November 1999 and 03 February
2000 to assess an unauthorized release of petroleum hydrocarbon compounds from underground
storage tanks (USTs) formerly located at the site. Additionally, this work plan addendum has been
prepared in accordance with Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB)
guidelines for the investigation of UST sites.
The purpose of this additional site assessment is to complete the assessment of the lateral and
vertical extent ofpetroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and groundwater in the eastern, southern and
and southwestern portions of the site. This work plan addendum provides a description of the scope
ofwork, procedures to be used to advance soil borings, collect soil and groundwater samples, sample
analytical methods, and to abandon the soil borings are described in the Preliminary Site Assessment
Work Plan.
2.0. BACKGROUND
The site is occupied by Lodi Airport,a private airport facility for agricultural and recreational flying.
Several airplane hangers, maintenance facilities, storage facilities, one office structure and a
restaurant are located on the property. Most of the site is paved with asphalt, however, some areas
of dirt and grassy landscaping are located near the former UST area. The site presently utilizes two
domestic wells.
On 09 July 1999,two 4,000-gallon aviation fuel USTs and one 5,000-gallon aviation fuel UST were
removed from the site. The USTs were located between three buildings, the office,a storage building
and a cafe building. Figure 2 shows the pre-removal UST locations.
Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as aviation gas (TPH-av) and benzene, toluene, ethyl
benzene and xylenes (BTEX) compounds were detected in soil samples collected from soil probe
boring SB-2-20',west of UST#1 (#39-1808-01),at maximum concentrations of 760 milligrams per
kilogram(mg/kg)and 2.5 mg/kg,respectively.Additionally,TPH-av and BTEX were detected 3 feet
beneath product piping in soil sample P-4 at concentrations of 6,400 mg/kg and 4.4 mg/kg,
respectively. Methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE)was detected in soil samples 1W@15', 1E@13', and
Advanced GwEnvironmental,Inc.
