Highway 99
Acampo, California 95220
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed Soil Vapor
Survey Work Plan dated July 11, 2007, prepared and submitted by Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) on your behalf for the above-referenced site. This work
plan was submitted in response to EHD's letter dated May 14, 2007, requesting an
evaluation for potential vapor intrusion into the buildings located at your site.
In this work plan, AGE proposes to advance a total of ten soil borings near the former
underground storage tank location and adjacent to the west and south sides of the existing
restaurant. Two proposed borings will be advanced to approximately five feet below
surface grade (bsg) using either a van-mounted Geoprobe 5400 unit or hand auger, and
soil samples will be collected at approximately two and five feet bsg from each borehole.
Soil lithology will be documented and soil samples will be Feld screened for the presence
of volatile organic compounds using an organic vapor meter equipped with photo-
ionization detector. Eight proposed soil borings will be advanced to approximately five
feet bsg using either a van-mounted Geoprobe 5400 unit or a slide hammer, and soil gas
samples will be collected in Tedlar bags from within a half-foot of total depth from each
borehole.
EHD approves the work plan as submitted. Although it is unclear what analyses will be
performed on the soil and soil gas samples, the samples should be analyzed for total
petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as aviation fuel (TPH-ag); benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX); and methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE). Soil
gas reporting limits for all chemicals of concern must be less than or equal to residential
Environmental Screening Levels (ESLs) and California Human Health Screening Levels
(CHHSLs) for soil gas published by San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control
Board.
