' ` '' = •• 4 IlKY CUNT MUL bOARD— --
ENTRAL VAiLEY REGION ! •
ROUTIER ROAb
CRAMEN70,CA 96327-3098
16 May 1989
Mr. James Harvey
Safety and Pollution Control Officer
Dallas Corporation
6750 LBJ Freeway
P.O. Box 809046
Dallas, TX 75380
PLAN TO INSTALL MONITORING WELL NUMBER 5 AT OVERHEAD/LODI DOOR COMPANY, LODI,
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
We received a work plan on 12 May 1989 regarding the installation of
monitoring well number 5 at Overhead/Lodi Door Company, Installation of this
well will provide valuable information regarding the impact of the use of the
surface impoundment at this site on ground water quality,
I have reviewed the work plan and have only the fallowing concern regarding
the scope of work described in that plan. The plan proposes to complete
monitoring well number 5 at a depth of 75 feet, A low permeability layer may
exist over part of the site at a depth of between 65 and 80 feet as
hypothesized in the Hydrogeological Assessment Report. If subsurface samples
from the proposed boring show that this layer exists at the location of
monitoring well number 5, it would be prudent to complete the well before that
zone is fully penetrated.
We are anxious to see this work plan implemented. Please contact me at least
one week before the field work begins so that I have the opportunity to
observe the construction of this monitoring well , and split ground water and
soil samples.
If you have any questions
ROBregarding this letter, call me at (916) 361-5734.
zav - I BLACK /
Engineering Geologist
RLN
Enclosure
cc: Mr. Alan Friedman, Toxic Substances Control Division, Department of
Health Services, Sacramento
Mr. Ronald Valinoti , San Joaquin Local Health District, Stockton
Mr. John Schweizer, BSK Remediation, Pleasanton
