S'PYUE OF CALIFORNIA Aga GEORGE DEUKMEJIAN.Governor
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATT QUALITY CONTROL BOARD—
CENTRAL VALLEY REGION
3443 ROUTIER ROAD
SACRAMENTO,CA 95827-3098
25 May 1988 MPS 2b tN
James
Harvey
Safety andPollution Control Officer NVQ(`RMjNf cR\G
Dallas Corporation
6750 L&7 Freeway
Dallas, TX 75240
REVIEW OF HAR FOR OVERHEAD/LODI DOOR CO. , SAN JOAQUIN CO. ,
TPCA # 05114
Enclosed are our comments on the Hydrogeological Assessment
Rerort (HAR) for the Dallas Corporation, dba, Overhead/Lodi Door
Co. (O/LDC) surface impoundment.
Much of the work necessary to satisfy HAR requirements in Section.
25208. 8 of the California Health and Safety Code has been
completed. The comments in the attached memorandum must be
addressed, and additional work performed to complete the HAR,
including but not limited to the following:
1. Obtain valid analytical results for major ionic constituents
from all wells.
2. Investigate the entire vertical extent of the upper aquifer.
3 . Determine the nature of interconnection between the
uppermost water-bearing zone and deeper aquifers.
4 . If a lack of interconnection cannot be adequately
demonstrated, investigate the effect of the impoundment on
deeper water-bearing zones.
5. Install additional wells to more accurately monitor down-
gradient water quality.
6. Determine the magnitude of vertical gradients in the
uppermost water bearing zone.
7 . Obtain accurate estimates of aquifer properties by
performing aquifer hydraulic tests.
In addition to the work necessary to complete the HAR, the
lateral and vertical extent of ground water ;which has been
affected by leachate migration must be investigated, and
remediation alternatives assessed. It would be advantageous to
coordinate these two goals.
