STATE OF CALIFORNIA • • GEORGE DEUKMEJIAN,Governor
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QUALITY CONTROL BOARD—
CENTRAL VALLEY REGION
3443 ROUTIER ROAD
SACRAMENTO,CA 95827-3098
19 November 1990
Mr. Charles Poole
Dallas Corporation
P.O. Box 809046
Dallas, TX 75380-9046
22 OCTOBER 1990 INSPECTION OF THE OVERHEAD/LODI DOOR COMPANY (0/LDC) FACILITY IN
LODI, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
Enclosed for your records is a copy of the report of my 22 October 1990
inspection of the O/LDC facility, in Lodi . During the inspection, Remediation
Services, Inc. collected ground water samples from the wells at the facility, in
accordance with the ground water monitoring program, Order No. 90-903. I
collected split samples from two of the wells, MW-1 and MW-2, to analyze for
total and hexavalent chromium (chromium VI) . This was the first quarter chromium
VI was added to the monitoring program. Results show that chromium VI
constitutes up to 100 percent of the total chromium in the ground water samples.
Chromium VI is more mobile and toxic than chromium III and, therefore, is of
greater concern.
Speciation of chromium should continue in all wells as part of the monitoring
program, except MW-4 and MW-6 (which have not contained chromium in the past,
above detection limits) . Once sufficient information is compiled, we can
determine if the existing monitoring system is adequate and if there is a need
for additional downgradient monitoring wells.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5729.
.)co ,--
JEAN McCUE
Water Resource Control Engineer
JEM:jm
Enclosure
cc+encl : Ms. Linda Hogg, Toxic Substances Control Division, Department of
Health Services, Sacramento
Mr. Ron Valinoti , San Joaquin County Environmental Health, Stockton
Mr. C.
