Main Street
Stockton, CA 95202-2708
Dear Mr. Von Flue:
Re: California Tank Lines, Inc.
Tank and Secondary Containment Assessment
r EB 0 $ 2009
" -".MENT FSE
- ' Ali;
` 4VICES
PHONE (209) 466-3554
FAX (209) 466-1855
This is to report the status of our efforts to prepare a Tank and Secondary Containment
Assessment for our wastewater storage tanks in our wastewater pretreatment system.
Unfortunately, we are still precluded from completing the Assessment by questions
regarding process modifications to achieve the following:
• Solids removal prior to discharge to the sewer. We have been using cone bottom
tanks as settlers, but the existing tanks do not have structural support racks
suitable for seismic requirements. We are evaluating replacing these tanks with a
filter or a Dissolved Air Floatation Clarifier.
• We are considering washing trailers which previously carried materials
prohibited from discharging to the sewer. This would require providing facilities
to allow isolating this wastewater, and hauling it offsite for disposal.
• We are currently looking into modifications to permit recycling significant
quantities of wastewater, thus reducing the amount of discharge to the sewer.
These require significant modifications to the system, and need careful evaluation to
ensure that they are sound environmentally and financially.
I apologize that this is taking so long, and thank you for your patience in allowing us to
move carefully on these matters. We will endeavor to complete the required testing
expeditiously, and will, of course, keep you informed of our progress.
Sincerely,
Jack Bishop
