Secondary Containmcni Assessment Page A:
Overhea view:
41A kfA
Cross sectional (lateral) view:
Volume calculations:
Tank volume (largest tank): 7,400 gallons.
Containment volume (sum of areas 1, 2 & 3) — 14,363 gallons (gross)
Less tank volume — 376 gallons, containment volume = 13,987 gallons (net)
Volume/inch = 13987 gal/24 in = 582.8 gal/in
Excess volume = 13987 - 7400 gals. equivalent to 6587 gal / 582.8 gal/in = 11.3 in
24 hr., 25 yr. storm = 2.4 to 2.6" for most of San Joaquin Valley.
Therefore, secondary containment volume is adequate.
Design of containment area: Secondary containment is provided by a number of areas
enclosed by poured concrete, or concrete block walls with re -bar. The containment area
does not have cracks or gaps to allow the escape of spilled material. Area I (East end) is
connected to area 2 by an open 6 in. pipe, and area 2 is connected to area 3 (West end) by
a 6 in. pipe.
Site Security: The entire site is fenced. The gate is locked when company personnel are
not present.
Secondary Containment findings: The secondary containment system is of sufficient
capacity and condition for the containment of releases from the 7,400 gallon wastewater
tank and ancillary equipment.
