Since the WW generation is 25,000gpd,the treatment system
must be in operation whenever the wash rack is in operation.
The level control in the cone bottom tank will shut off the wash rack sump pump on high level and sound an alarm.
The cone bottom tank shall be emptied daily-i.e.no solids build up in the tank. Tank is cleaned periodically,
residual is removed, analyzed for hazards and taken off site with a waste manifest.
A pre neutralizer is being added to the system to ensure that the feed to the existing 2 stage neutralization system is
with in the range of 3-12pH,which the existing system can handle.
The pre neutralizer uses larger chemical metering pumps so that material in the range of 0-3pH. Or 12-14pH can be
controlled to the desired 3-12pH range.
In the event that effluent is outside the range it is recycled automatically to the cone bottom and retreated. Should
this happen,it reduces the flow from the neutralization system, requiring careful attention from the operators to keep
the systems(wash rack and neutralization systems)in balance.
We have a system operator who monitors the treatment system. If for some reason the pH was not adjusted within
range and it reached the third process tank,an alarm will sound and the system will shut itself down. The valve that
allows product from this tank will also close. In the event the valve did not close automatically the operator would
close it manually and activate our contingency plan.
The Treatment has been efficacious when the pH range is between 7-12
Waste is analyzed for hazards and taken off site with a waste manifest.
