CrWirN. SACRAMENTO
i
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
5.1 Conclusions
A total of four corings were drilled on the property at 503 West Larch Road in
Tracy, California. One coring was Iocated on each side of the commercial building
located on the property. The assessment did not identify the presence of any organic
compounds in the soils which may have resulted from previous operations at,the site.
However, the assessment identified the presence of halogenated volatile organic
compounds in the groundwater beneath the site.
Analytical results of groundwater samples collected from SP-2 and SP-3 identified
trace concentrations of 1,1 Dichloroethene; 1,1 Dichloroethane; 1,1,1 Trichloroethane,
and Trichlorofluoromethane. However, the concentrations of the compounds identified
Lda not exceed California state drinking water maximum concentrationlimits (MCLS).
Due to the sampling method used, the grab samples taken may not be a true
representative of theroundwater beneath the site and thus the halogenated volatile
g g o e
f organic compounds found may not represent the actual concentrations present.
5.2 Recommendations
To fully assess the extent and actual contaminant concentrations of the identified
groundwater impairment, and evaluate potential sources of the contaminants, the
following recommendations should be considered.
A minimum of three groundwater monitoringwells Should be installed on the
west side of the building. This would allow an actual determination of hydraulic
gradient and flow direction to enable the evaluation of a potential contaminant
source.
• Conduct roundwater sam lin to determine actual groundwater contaminant
j concentrations.
Implement quarterlygroundwater sampling,`to assess groundwater conditions
an obtain repeatable results.
10
