During the drilling, soil samplesw ill be collected at five foot intervals from surface to maximum
borehole depth and logged using the Unified Soil Classification System by an IT Corporation field geologist,
working under the supervision of a California registered geologist. Sol at each depth interval will be evaluated )
on site for relative hydrocarbon content using a field instrument. Samples collected for laboratory analysis will i
be sealed with plastic caps over Teflon film, tapetl, labeled, placed onllice and sent to a state certified laboratory
'! under chain of custody. These will be analyzed for benzene, toluene;, ethylbenzene, total xylenes, MTBE and s
total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g)following EPA method 802018015(modified). MTBE will.be
i;
confirmed using EPA method 8260. All sampling equipment will be cleaned.between sampling intervals using i
detergent and rinsed with deionized water. Boreholes will be back filed to grade with bentonite.
J i
GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
Groundwater is estimated to be 20 feet BGS at this site. Groundwater samples will be collected from each
borehole, sealed, labeled, placed on ice and send to a state certified laboratory under chain of custody. These
samples will be analyzed for BTEX, MTBE and TPH-g using EPA method 802018015(modified). MTBE will be
confirmed using EPA method 8260.
REPORTING AND REQUEST FOR CLOSURE
IT Corporation will prepare a report summarizing the data collected under..the scope of work detailed above.
The report will document the methods and results of the work, summarize laboratory analytical results and
include appropriate maps.
IT Corporation, on behalf of the Southland Corporation, will request site closure pending the outcome of the
soil and water sample analytical results. If closure is not warranted, a work plan for the installation of
monitoring wells and a quarterly monitoring and sampling plan will be submitted to the SJCEHD.
I
