i r <br /> Well Metadata txt <br /> Well Information Database <br /> The information sought for each well is ownership, depth of sanitary <br /> seal, well type (e . g , municipal, <br /> ' agricultural, industrial) , length of screen, location, operating pumps <br /> ng rate, status (active, standby, <br /> and inactive) , and any testing information <br /> Multiple sources of information are used to assemble this database: al <br /> 1 wells included within IT ' s well <br /> database are first obtained from the California Water Quality Monitore <br /> ng Database which is administered <br /> by the California Department of Health Services Drinking Water Program <br /> , other state agencies may provide <br /> water quality information and well type, counties may provide records <br /> on well construction and <br /> ownership, and once identified, the well owner should have information <br /> on status (active, standby, or <br /> inactive) , and pumping rate All information collected is stored withi <br /> n an AccessO database The <br /> original location information on wells is obtained from the California <br /> Water Quality Monitoring <br /> Database This data is generally inaccurate with wells most often loc <br /> `,. ated in the geographic centroid of <br /> the quarter section containing the street address given the well when <br /> originally drilled. Additional <br /> locational information is provided by individual counties or water dis <br /> tricts who are in the process of <br /> more accurately locating their wells using GPS (Global Positioning Sys <br /> tem) technology, as well as IT ' s <br /> GPS efforts.
