PE 2546 RUVALCABA <br /> 180 min SC 974 <br /> Initial call received at 7:30 pm. <br /> Kyle Collins(209-483-5867)with Loves Travel Center was called to get more <br /> information on the incident. Kyle stated that 50 gallons had leaked out of a <br /> punctured diesel tank on a truck that had arrived on their parking lot. The release <br /> had not been contained, fire department was on scene trying to contain leak and <br /> recover as much diesel as they could. Absorbent had been used to help in <br /> containing the spread of the contamination. It was estimated that clean up <br /> company would arrive at about 8:30 pm. The responsible party was identified as <br /> SWIFT trucking. <br /> Loves Travel Center was called at(209) 333-9392 and manager Geney Lo made <br /> similar statements to Kyle. <br /> Arrived on site a 8:30 pm. Juan Rubio with Patriot Environmental was on site and <br /> was working on emptying diesel tank to stop the leak. Swift truck number was <br /> 152067 and trailer number was 544580. James Harper was identified as the <br /> driver, he stated that he had filled up about 30 minutes before the incident. He <br /> noticed a mist in his side view mirror and realized that his tank had punctured. He <br /> traveled approximately 5 miles from the time he realized his tank was punctured to <br /> the time he exited the freeway. I tried to retrace his route and was unable to <br /> observe any puddles along the freeway or at the two stop lights between the off <br /> ramp and the Loves Travel Center. It was discovered by Patriot that the two tanks <br /> held a total of 200 gallons. Between 70 to 80 gallons were recovered from the <br /> leaking tank. 3 drums of waste were generated by the cleanup including the <br /> recovered diesel. Some of the absorbent and diesel could not be cleaned until the <br /> truck could be towed. Towing was to happen by Monday 10/09/2017. The labeled <br /> waste drums were left at the Loves facility to be picked up by patriot at the time the <br /> cleanup is concluded. <br /> 10/09/2017 Called and spoke to adjuster for Swift Trucking.
