fi
Mr. Chris Stock 4 February 28, 1992
with a 2-sack cement/sand/bentonite slurry to seal the abandoned boreholes. Each
boring was logged by a qualified engineer ,under the supervision of a -California
Registered Geologist using the Unified 'Soil Classification System. Boring logs are
presented in Appendix A.
3.6 Analytical Methods
fiSoil samples designated ) for laboratory .analysis were submitted to Eureka
Laboratories, Inc. in Sacramento, a State of California Department of Health Services
(DOHS) certified laboratory. Appendix B presents copies of the ,analytical reports "and
chain of custody sheets.
The soil samples retained ,for- analytical testing were based on an expected plume if
the tank had leaked and impacted the vadose zone. In this case there was µno" _l
4 ` observable hydrocarbon odor or stainiyng, therefore two sample'
s from each, borings
were submitted for analysis.
A total of four soil samples' were .submitted x4or laboratory analysis. The samples were
analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons ' (TPH).' by United .States Environmental
Protection Agency (USEPA) Test Method ,8015M: and the gasoline constituent volatile
airomatics, benzene, toluene; total xylenes, "and ethylbenzene-((BTX&E)/ by USEPA
.; Method .8020. Table 1 -presents a summary of:. the analytical results for TPH and BTX&E
in soil samples analyzed during the investigation.
4.0 RESULTS OF .INVESTIGATION
4.1 Soil and Groundwater _Conditions
Soils encountered during this expanded;- exploratory drilling program mainly
consisted of silty sands and sandy silts of .'low plasticity and . low icohesive strength.
Groundwater was not encountered to a. depth: of 30 feet below: surface grade at the
time of drilling.
4.2 Analytical Results
The analytical results for TPH in soil by USEPA.
