SITE CONTAMINATION WORK PLAN (EXCAVATION)
Stocks Automotive - Mayers Property
126 South Main Street
Lodi, California
March 1994
1.0 INTRODUCTION
In accordance with a request from Mr. James DeMera of Mullen, Sullivan & Newton
(MSN), Geological Audit Services, Inc. (GeoAudit) has prepared this work plan to perform
excavation procedures at 126 South Main Street in Lodi, California (the site). The location
of the site is illustrated in Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated in Figure 2. The history
of the site, previous investigations, and proposed excavation are discussed in the following
sections.
2.0 BACKGROUND
2.1 Site Location
The site is located in a flat industrial/residential area of Lodi, California, on the northwest
corner of South Main Street and Walnut Street (Figure 1). One single story brick building
is currently located on-site. The site is the location of an automotive and marine repair
facility (Figure 2).
2.2 Initial Investigation
In October 1991, a gasoline dispensing island was discovered at the site. On-site
'investigation and discussions with previous owners revealed the presence of a 500 gallon
gasoline underground storage tank (UST) that had been installed approximately 50 years
ago.
On January 24, 1992, two soil borings were installed next to the UST, and drilled to a depth
of 30 feet. No hydrocarbon odors were noticed during drilling, and no contamination was
detected in the soil samples analyzed.
2.3 UST Removal
On March 26, 1992, the UST was removed by Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc., and the excavation was
expanded to 7 by 10 feet and to a depth of 6 feet.
