05 May 1997
AGE-NC Project No 95-0112
' associated with soil of lower permeability, minimizing the potential for future vertical
migration of contaminants
• SESOIL modeling indicates that future migration of contaminants from soil to ground water
' is unlikely Contaminants remaining in soil at the site may degrade naturally over time
• Continued operation of a soil -vapor extraction system will produce minimal benefits while
incurring increasing costs
• Petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations in ground water have shown a steady decrease at the
site since installation of the extraction/sparging system Hydrocarbons were not detected in
the ground water sample collected from MW-1 during the January 1997 monitoring event
and were detected near the detection limit during the April 1997 monitoring event
' Remediation of ground water appears to have been successful
• MTBE was detected in the sample collected from MW-7, at a concentration of 4 1 ppb,
' during the January 1997 monitoring event MTBE had not been detected at the site previous
to,or since, the January 1997 monitoring event Therefore, MTBE does not appear to be a
significant contaminant at the site
' • According to information obtained by AGE, there are currently no potential ground water
receptors (i e ground water wells) located near the subject property
7 0 RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based upon data collected at the site, AGE has the following recommendations
• A composite sample should be collected from the stockpiled soil for characterization, and
the soil disposed of appropriately
• The City of Lodi Public Works Department should be contacted regarding the possible
disposal of remaining purge water to the sanitary sewer system
' • The site should be considered for closure It is unlikely that additional remediation at the site
would be cost-effective or result in a significant reduction of the hydrocarbon mass
• Upon closure certification, all monitoring, vapor and sparging wells associated with the site
- - should be abandoned/destroyed in accordance with local regulations
•
