Jahant Road, Acampo
APN 003-140-12, SR0080739 BP-1900696
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed the Soil
Suitability/Nitrate Loading (SSNL) Study, dated May 21, 2019 and submitted on June 13, 2019, for
the above noted location and has the following comments for your consideration.
The SSNL was prepared to review the suitability of the above noted parcel for onsite wastewater
treatment system (OWTS) usage and the potential impact of nitrate to groundwater, for the additional
phases of construction for a large winery approved by the San Joaquin County Planning Commission
on March 27, 2007.
Based on the information provided, the EHD finds that the SSNL Study supports the suitability for
the continued OWTS usage for this parcel for the buildings indicated in Table 2 of the study, pursuant
to San Joaquin County Ordinance Code Title 9, Section 9-1105.2(d).
The OWTS for the project must be in compliance with the current San Joaquin County OWTS
Standards. The dispersal field for the existing OWTS consists of 300 feet of leach line plus 252 feet
of leach line equivalent for the three 60 inch by 25 feet deep seepage pits, for a total of 552 leach
line equivalent. Based on the Average Daily Flow estimates provided in Table 2 and the method for
calculating standard commercial leach lines requirements in the San Joaquin County OWTS
Standards, Section 9.7.2, the leach line equivalent required for 1,567 gallons average daily flow is
692 feet. The required leach line equivalent for the peak flow estimate in Table 2 of 6,400 gallons is
1,900 feet. Based on this information, in addition to the additional proposed septic tank capacity,
supplemental capacity needs to be added to the dispersal field to meet these minimum requirements.
The OWTS must be sized to accommodate all regular anticipated maximum usage. Special events
occurring less than 6 times per year may utilize portable toilets and handwash facilities to augment
the existing OWTS. All work must be performed under permit and inspection by the EHD prior to the
final occupancy of the proposed new buildings.
In addition, before such time that the employees and visitors at this facility reach 25 or more persons
for 60 days of the year or more, a permit to operate a small public water system is required.
