Our work was <br /> performed under your verbal authorization of 23 July 1991. <br /> t r FIELD INVESTIGATION <br /> The field work was conducted on 23 July 1991. When ACG arrived at the site, the <br /> area of the thickened slab had been excavated, the sumps had been removed, and the <br /> foundation of the Chinese restaurant had been excavated. Our observations of each <br /> area follows. <br /> Thickened Slab. A geophysical survey of the site in May 1990 noted two areas in <br /> which underground storage tanks may have been abandoned in place. During the <br /> previous investigation, both areas were excavated. The larger anamoly was found to <br /> 631 Commerce Drive be a buried mechanic's pit, part of the maintenance building. The second, smaller <br /> Roseville,CA 95678-6431 anomoly was found to be a 1. foot thick section of reinforced concrete which could <br /> not be broken by the backhoe equipement. The thickened concrete slal�as <br /> 916.969.8883 excavated in this investigation to examine the soil conditions beneath the slab. He informed us that the thickened slab observed near the <br /> mechanic's pit was found to be two feet in width. The slab encircled the mechanic's <br /> pit, indicating it may have served as a footing. The area beneath the footing had <br /> 350 Crown Point Circle been excavated to a depth of approximately 3 feet.
