i • • <br /> 3.0 WASTE GENERATION AND DISPOSAL <br /> The only waste that will be generated will be debris from drilling pilot borings through asphaltic <br /> concrete. This material will be disposed of as solid waste. Less than 1 gallon of asphalt is <br /> expected to require disposal. <br /> Inserting small-diameter vapor probes will not produce any waste because the probes are driven <br /> into the soil. The holes that remain in the soil after the probe is removed will be bacliilled with <br /> either bentonite chips or Portland cement grout; if bentonite chips are used, water will be added to <br /> the bentonite in short lifts to ensure that all of the chips are hydrated and that the hole is sealed to <br /> the bottom of the asphalt. Holes through the asphalt will be abandoned by backfilling them with <br /> either aggregate concrete or cold-patch asphalt. <br /> r <br /> 8 <br />
