Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
Two septic systems are currently located on the Site to serve the existing houses (Plate
2).
Proposed Septic System
Mr. Atwal plans to build a new septic system for the new residence.
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. One septic permit was identified. The permit, dated
November 1983,was for a repair to the existing septic system at the western house. A
new 90-foot leach line was added to the system. This permit has been included in
Appendix 4 of this report.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. AjLp_hoto imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo wad assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 140 septic systems
per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. However, almost all of
the systems are concentrated to the Site's northwest, in the greater_Tracy area.
The area surrounding the Site to the south, east, and west consists primarily of
agricultural land with the occasional residential lot. A few residences are located to the
immediate west of the Site, and a school is located to the immediate east. A residential
neighborhood with smaller lots is located to the immediate northwest of the Site.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, septic systems in the area utilize leach lines,
leach lines with seepage pits, or leach lines with sumps. The septic permits can be
found in Appendix 4 of this report.
Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage
Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the current and future residents of
the Site. Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site
LOGE 1930 Page 2
