The Workplan proposes collecting active soil gas samples at eight select
locations within the former manufactured gas plant. Each sampling location will consist
of two sampling probes set at variable depths. Samples will be analyzed for volatile
organic compounds including naphthalene.
Soil gas sampling will be conducted in accordance with the April 2012 Advisory—Active
Soil Gas Investigation document published jointly by DTSC, the Los Angeles Regional
Water Quality Control Board, and the San Francisco Regional Water Quality Control
Board.
DTSC concurs with and approves of the Workplan. In the event that sampling results
indicate adverse soil gas conditions, DTSC may request additional sampling to further
characterize soil gas conditions.
Please contact me at (559) 297-3907 or at '!ff.gymera dt! g ;g2y if you have any
questions.
JG:srnk
JG02.0115
