Box 193965 <br /> San Francisco, CA 94119-3965 <br /> OBSERVATIONS MADE BY: Subbu Mahadevan and Fred Heyler DATE: December 2, 1992 <br /> FACILITY REPRESENTATIVE(S) and TITLE(S): Fred Roes, Owner <br /> SITE: Busy Bee Laundry and Cleaning <br /> EPA ID: CAD 982053944 <br /> A site reconnaissance was conducted at the Busy Bee Laundry and Cleaning site on December 2, <br /> 1992. The weather was cloudy with a light drizzle and the temperature was approximately 55°F. <br /> The Bechtel site visit team, Subbu Mahadevan and Fred Heyler,conducted the site reconnaissance <br /> with Fred Roes, owner of Busy Bee Laundry and Cleaning, at 2 p.m. to gather information on the <br /> site location and size, history,processes used and any hazardous waste generated, treated, stored or <br /> disposed off on site. The reconnaissance included a site tour during which photographs were <br /> taken. Paul Walker, attorney for Busy Bee Laundry and Cleaning,joined the site reconnaissance <br /> team towards the latter half of the visit. <br /> The following information was obtained during the site reconnaissance: <br /> The Busy Bee site is located at the intersection of Main Street and Elm Street. The site is bordered <br /> on the west by Main Street and a large gravel covered area with railroad tracks that run parallel to <br /> Main Street; on the north by Elm Street and the Diamond Home Investment Center, on the east by <br /> Speedy Recovery, a furniture and antique shop; on the northeast by a completely fenced <br /> playground; and on the south by the Bumble Bee Inn. The main entrance to the facility is from <br /> Main Street. <br /> The site has been the location of a laundry and dry cleaning facility since 1985. The site is located <br /> in a portion of a building complex owned by M & P Investments. The dry cleaning operation at <br /> the site was founded by Alvin Allmendinger in June 1985. Fred Roes, the current owner, took <br /> over the business in October 1987. Currently, there are six employees on site. There were several <br /> different businesses occupying the site prior to 1985. Mr. Roes has heard from customers that the <br /> building was erected around the turn of the century, and that the businesses on site included a <br /> grocery store,a fish market, and an antique shop. <br /> The Busy Bee site in downtown Lodi consists of one building that is approximately 2,800 square <br /> feet. The building is divided into three rooms. The entrance to the building faces Main Street in <br /> the northwest corner of the site. The room located in the northwest portion of the building contains <br /> a front counter where clothes are dropped off and picked up. This room also contains several <br /> clothes racks and an office area. The room in the northeast portion of the building contains three <br /> SI Busy Bee Laundry and Cleaning-0(F)• 1193 E-1 Printed on 50%recycled Paper. ��� <br />
