Proiect Number 1804BK54 April 11,2013 <br /> • Heat stress <br /> • Noise <br /> • Underground and overhead utilities <br /> • Materials and equipment handling <br /> • Heavy equipment use <br /> Job hazard analyses have been prepared for planned significant tasks and are <br /> included in Appendix C of the SSP. <br /> General Safe Work Practices <br /> • Maintain at least one copy of this SSP at each work area. <br /> • Personnel with beards or sideburns or other conditions that may prevent a <br /> proper seal will not wear respiratory protection. <br /> • Anyone known to be under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or intoxicating <br /> substances that impair the employee's ability to safely perform the assigned <br /> duties shall not be allowed on the job site while in that condition. <br /> • Horseplay, scuffling, and other acts that tend to have an adverse influence on <br /> the safety or well being of the field personnel shall be prohibited. <br /> • Only appropriate tools maintained in good condition shall be used on the <br /> project. <br /> • Accidents and/or injuries associated with site activities will be immediately <br /> reported to the SSO. If necessary, an incident report will be initiated by the <br /> SSO. <br /> • Periodic safety meetings will be held to discuss site conditions, field tasks being <br /> performed, planned modifications, and worker's concerns. <br /> • All visitors to the job site must comply with the Site Safety Plan procedures and <br /> provide appropriate personal protective equipment as required in the SSP. <br /> • Employees will evaluate whether conditions exist that may result in slips, trips, <br /> or falls, and if identified make provisions to rectify the problem or notify the <br /> SSO. <br /> • Personnel and equipment in the exclusion zone shall be kept to a minimum to <br /> promote safe and effective site operations. <br /> • Use the "buddy system" when appropriate (i.e., minimum two-man crew for <br /> hazard communication and help in case of injury). <br /> • Wear ANSI-approved hardhat to prevent head injuries in areas of overhead <br /> obstacles and where falling objects are a hazard. <br /> • Use good housekeeping procedures during site activities to maintain a safe <br /> working environment. The work site will be kept free of trash, debris, and <br /> waste materials. <br /> • Use ANSI-approved safety glasses during field activities to prevent eye injuries. <br /> Heat Stress <br /> Heat stress is an important consideration in planning and performing field activities. <br /> Health conditions related to excessive heat range from heat fatigue to heat stroke, the <br /> most serious condition.
