While I am not opposed to
development of the property, one matter must first be addressed.
For the last 50 years, the subject property and the two adjoining properties to the west
have been served by the same domestic water well. It is my understanding that the
developer of the subject property intends to take the existing well out of service.
Accordingly, I investigated a hook-up to the Public water System. I was told that I would
have to extend the existing 8-inch water main across the front of my property before I
would be allowed to hook up. The cost of the water main extension ($3800.00) plus the
cost of the County Permits ($1850.00) and the cost of service piping from the main to the
house ($500.00) made this approach too costly.
As I am quite pleased with the taste and quality of the well water I am now using, I would
like to relocate the existing well to my property. I was told by Mr. Mindt of County
Environmental Health that his department would probably not issue a permit to relocate
the well.
As you can see, I have somewhat of a dilemma. Any advice you can offer would be
appreciated. Also, please notify me if there is to be a hearing on the above matter.
Very truly yours,
UO
o n allis
