26 March 1991
TRAFFIC STUDY AND ANALYSIS
Introduction
A limited traffic study and analysis was performed of traffic
conditions related to operations at the E1 Rancho Rock and Sand
Inc. Quarry located at 8000 Waverly Road, Linden, San Joaquin
County, California. El Rancho Rock and Sand Inc. wishes to permit
for a maximum of 100 haul trucks per day with an average of 80
trucks per day. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact
upon traffic flow and traffic safety that may accrue from this
level of truck operations associated with the Quarry.
The roads studied were Waverly Road from the south end of pavement
at the Foothill Landfill entry, past the quarry access north to
Shelton Road, Shelton Road from Waverly to Escalon Bellota Road and
a very short segment of Escalon Bellota Road from Shelton across a
bridge over the Calaveras River to State Highway 26.
Field Studies
Two separate field surveys were carried out. The first of these
was a road condition inventory. The second field survey included
a one day traffic count including all turning movements at the
intersections that may be impacted by the proposed project.
Road Condition Inventory
The road condition inventory was conducted on 12 March 1991. This
consisted of a visual survey of the road which covered the
following elements:
1. Pavement surface conditions which yield not only pavement
surface information but also provide information on the
substructure of the roadway.
2 . Pavement width
3 . Sight distances estimated to be under 500 feet.
4 . Traffic control signing
5. Alignment of the roadway
6. Business and residential encroachments
*%
CONDOR
