Ranch Alluvium is comprised of fine to coarse-grained fan, mudf low,
terrace and floodplain deposits.
Overburden in the project site area consists of the Redding Soil
Series, a gravelly loam with cobbly-gravelly surface textures. This
soil has a USDA Capability Rating of Class IV.
The northern portion of the project site consists of moderately to
steeply rolling topography which slopes away northerly toward the
Calaveras River. The southern portion of the project site consists
of flat to gently rolling topography intersected by low-lying
swales and drainage courses.
The E1 Rancho Rock and Sand, Inc. Quarry property is classified by
the State of California Division of Mines and Geology as within
MRZ-3, (Mineral Resource Zone 3) . Areas classified as MRZ-3 contain
aggregate deposits, the significance of which cannot be evaluated
from available data. Aggregate testing results indicate that
processed Laguna Formation and Mehrten Formation aggregates could
meet PCC-grade standards if beneficiation proves to be economical.
22
CONDOR
