KENNETH ERWIN
MANTECA Regarding our recent inspection of the Stockton Sand and Gravel
R0BBEERT FULLER Excavation, the San Joaquin County Mosquito Abatement District
LW
J. DON LAYSON would request proper handling of ponded waters and excess water used
STOCKTON for irrigating in reclaiming land during re-establishment of native
W. S. MONTGOMERY, JR. and planted grasses for cattle grazing.
LODI
GERALD SCHILBER During digging operations certain criteria should be maintained
ESCALON
O. R. STRONG to prohibit mosquito development:
TRACY
GUARD C. DARRAH 1. Water depth - 3 feet or more for weed control.
LEGAL ADVISOR 2. Restrict weed growth, such as, tules, water lilies and other
aquatic vegetation which is conducive to mosquito development.
3. Weed control by herbicides if required, to control mosquito
sources.
Proper drainage must be incorporated in all future plans to
elirinate any potential mosquito sources that may be created from
digging operations.
If existing natural drainage ditches were to receive more water
than their capacity, overflowing the banks by man made conditions
may add additional standing water that could also produce mosquitoes.
Stockton Sand and Gravel Excavation would be responsible for
any excessive breeding of mosquitoes that may develop from unfor-
seen problems due to the excavation of gravel or other products
associated with the excavation of gravel.
Very truly yours,
Edward P.
