s_ r
RE
WORK PLAN FOR VACUUM EXTRACTION SOIL REMEDIATION
SYSTEM INSTALLATION AT FORMER EXXON REST STOP RS 7-1050
909 WEST HAMMER LANE, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
INTRODUCTION
The subject site is a former Exxon rest stop located at the
northwest corner of Hammer Lane and Sacramento Road in
Stockton, California. The service station structures have
been demolished and the tanks and pipelines have been
removed. The site
is currently
material at the Y a arevacants' lot. The surf `
_ aC
s' e
site
consists s o
f b
asphalt.. The a ars soil and patches of
feet. approximate depth to groundwater is 48 to 58
I _
t
BACKGROUND i
In March 2990, EVAX Technologies, Inc. conducted a Soil Gas
Survey to delineate the lateral and vertical extent of
hydrocarbon concentration as vapor at the subject site. A
Performance Test was .conducted the fol
lowing
determine whether site conditions areamen bleatotsoil
remediation by vacuum extraction.. The'results'of the Soil
Gas. Survey indicate that concentrations of hydrocarbon as
vapor are located predominantly in the vicinity of. the
former tank `cavity. Concentrations .were. recorded at de ,} f
greater than 28 feet below grade in this area.
p the I
Teres ' t
of. the. 'erformance testing indicate that the soil hcondi.tions
at the site are suitable for remediation by vacuum
extraction. €
A proposal for an in-situ vacuum extraction: soiZ remediation
system and program was submitted tO Exxon Company, U.S.A.
(Exxon) in June 1990
SYSTEM DESIGN
The vacuum extraction system will extract vapor p. from the
soil and reduce. the concentration of hydrocarbons in the !
vapor to allow for discharge of the extracted air stream to
the atmosphere.
3 ,
F ;
r
''
