- 7
In Tune 1987, two soil borings g were drilled (MW4, MW5, Figure 4 ).
One sail sample was collected from the 45-400t level of each
boring; these samples did not contain levels of fuel
a constituents
above method detection limits (see Table 3) .
In July 1989, three additional soil borings (Figure 5) were
drilled in the area of the former product tank . field (SB6
SB7)
and the waste oil tank
- pits (SBS).
Numerous soil samples col-
lected from these borings did not contain TPH concentrations
._J greater than 1 .6 m k
g/ g, or BTEX compounds greater than 0. 14 mg/kg
n (Table 41 . Benzene was not detected in any of the soil samples
at levels greater than the laboratory detection limit of 0.005
}
Mg/kg. Routine OVA (FID) screening of all of the soil samples at
.: the surface at the time of collection detected only low concen-
trations of organic vapors ( 00 ppm) in SB6 between 30 and 55
feet, and in SB7 between 30 and 40 feet (lithologic logs,
I Appendix A).
f
j
The results of the 1989soil anal sis
- Y indicate that only low
concentrations of fuel constituents are present in the soil
section below the backfilled product and waste oil tank pits (see
-' Table 4) .
t
Cadmium, chromium, and zinc values were within the range of con-
centrations normally found in
_ cla -
rich
Y sediments
 t s
USGS 1975) .
1 -5 SOIL VAPOR ANALYSES
EA conducted a soil. vapor contaminant assessment (SVCA) at former
Exxon RS 7-1050 during the months of November and
December 1987.
^' Soil gas samples were collected from 11 locations on the site [
]I
(VI-VII , Figure 6}w , ;and headspace samples were taken from the
i
I five monitoring well.;.
No significant hydrocarbon concentrations were detected in any of
the soil vapor samples collected in the course of the SVCA:
e42/71050/.7-90/tx $
