i <br /> is <br /> B.2 SOIL SAMPLING <br /> _ <br /> Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot in" ervals and at any <br /> substantial changes of soil type, beginning at 5 feet below <br /> ground surface, with a 2-inch-diameter, 18-inch split-spoon drive <br /> sampler containing three 5-inch brass liners. The sampler and <br /> liners will be steam cleaned before use in each hole; they will <br /> be scrubbed in a detergent solution and rinsed with deionized <br /> water after every sample. Soil samples will be collected to the <br /> __- total depth of the borehole unless heaving sand is encountered. <br /> Every attempt will be made to collect a soil sample at the water <br /> fj table. <br /> 1 The drive sampler will be driven 18 inches ahead of the drill <br /> f <br /> -. auger into undisturbed soil.
