Box 2009
Stockton, California 95201
Dear Mr. Valinoti :
Attached is a copy. of the revised Problem Assessment j. Report for the referenced site in Stockton, California. Included in the repo t is recent monitoring
i data which indicates the groundwater level is increasing.. The repor
addresses issues raised in your letter of January 5, 1990, and those in the
September 28, 1989, letter from Central Valley RWQCB which was attached.
i
As mentioned above, groundwater measurements taken this month indicate that
water levels have increased and water nc)w exists in all five wells. All five
wel.l:s : [ere.:recently,W_sampled_-and_the::results:..4re;Jncluded;:In,:the , repoLt. The
water columns in wells MW-4 and MW-5 were insufficient to properly purge the !
well so the results are not official but are included for reference. Ike will
imonitor water evels weekly to determine if winter rains will
-pr vide enou h
e am les--to e o to ed-from -4 an
the levels continue increasing,
W-5. I it a ears that an acce table water column will not be sustained
in the wells, a wor p an w 11 be preparea ro replace the d e f I c en we s.
A significant change in our plans is to include a precautionary soil vapor
survey and vapor-extraction test which is designed to determine if significant
residual hydrocarbons exist in the soil and if vapor extraction is justified.
Should vapor extraction be conducted on. an ongoing basis, the existing wells
wlil be. utillzed such that their use as groundwater monitoring wells will not
be impaired. Additional venting wells may be added if necessary The soil
i vapor work 1s scheduled foe March 12 and we plan to proceed unless we receive
objections from your office.
4 - - A DIVISION Of EXXON CORPORATION - - - -
